Last updated: April 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Coursell ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our platform at coursell.io ("Service").

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you register for an account, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed version of your password. We do not store plaintext passwords.

Subscription & Billing Data

When you subscribe to Coursell, payment processing is handled by our third-party payment processor. We do not store your full credit card number, bank account details, or other sensitive payment credentials on our servers. We may receive and store limited billing information such as a payment confirmation, transaction ID, and subscription status.

Course & Content Data

If you are a Creator, we store the course content you upload, including text, images, video embed codes, and configuration settings. If you are a Student, we store records of your course purchases and enrollment status.

Usage Data

We may collect information about how you interact with the Service, such as pages visited, features used, and time spent on the platform. This data is used to improve the Service.

Cookies & Local Storage

We use session cookies and local storage to maintain your authentication state and user preferences. These are essential for the Service to function properly.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Process your subscription and manage your account
  • Authenticate your identity and secure your account
  • Communicate with you about your account, including service announcements and support requests
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Payment Processors: We share necessary billing information with our payment processor to process your subscription.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Your data is stored on secure cloud servers provided by third-party hosting and storage providers.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Creator Payment Credentials

Creators who connect Stripe or PayPal accounts provide their API keys or credentials directly within the platform. These credentials are stored securely and are used solely to facilitate payment transactions between Creators and their Students. Coursell does not use Creator payment credentials for any other purpose and does not access or divert funds from Creator accounts.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including encryption of passwords, secure HTTPS connections, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are required to retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
  • Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected].

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information.
